Lesson 6: Ground Rent in Maryland

Lesson 6: Ground Rent in Maryland

What responsibilities do agents have when a property has ground rent?

Ground rent is the rent that a tenant pays for the land they live on, separately from what they pay for their house. This happens when a home is built on rented land or sold separately from the land. The homeowner then pays rent to the landowner in addition to the mortgage, as stipulated in the lease. The listing agent is required to know whether a property carries ground rent and to clearly advertise that fact when listing the house.
